... a while and went back to it there were coloured squares all over t screen with random letters in them when i tried to reboot it said (cannot display in this video mode)i tried all ove the bove but cant seem to even get into safe mode ,could this be a graffics card problem or am i barking up the wrong tree here.

It then goes to black, a brief blue screen, black then back to the reboot. I can get to the recovery console with the cd. I can see the whole c drive and Restore there or boot into Safe Mode and restore. I have attempted this and can't boot into safe mode. I can't even restore to a last usable configutation.
